We live in one of the safest and most secure countries in the world, yet there are many cases that shock us and challenge our sense of justice, says Bent Isager-Nielsen, former police inspector and head of the specialized homicide squad. In DR1’s new series “When Crime Shocks Us,” Bent investigates heinous crime cases and looks at what is relevant or not in relation to fear and facts.

There is a growing fear of terror, but is there a reason for it? Gang-related violence creates insecurity among ordinary citizens, but why do we feel that the gangs are so powerful? Over 30,000 Danes are exposed to burglary every year in Denmark, but are we even allowed to defend ourselves if strangers break into our homes?
Bent Isager-Nielsen and a team of experts dive into crime topics that shock, scare, and amaze us. They assess whether there is cause for concern or not when they get down and dirty with Danish crime.

“When Crime Shocks Us” premieres on October 8th, 2019, at 9:55PM (21.55) on DR1.
